但i5終究是輛電動車,所以也具備電動車直接且強勁輸出的特性,因此只要稍微對踏板施加壓力,其340hp/43.8kgm最大動力輸出就會立即帶來相當明顯的貼背感,而充足的電能輸出也能持續將車輛快速推至高速,若在Sport模式下加速貼背感會比方才再強烈數倍,而時速快速堆疊的過程更是會讓i5從豪華房車變身成如M5般強悍,另外BMW也替i5準備Boost撥片,啟動後持續10秒時間釋放所有能量供驅使。

以往5 Sereis就有著不俗的身手,但產品本質終究訴求豪華,因此離操控樂趣仍有些距離,但這次i5卻在動態表現讓人驚艷,首先強勁的加速力已是電動車標準配備,然而i5在彎道中卻帶來出乎意料的沉穩。電動車因電池配置緣故,所以車輛於轉向時可感受到因電池而帶來的低重心,但車身上半部仍有些許不同步的晃動,但i5卻沒有如此反應,除電池帶來低重心感受,整體表現更是渾然天成的穩當,而這股沉穩也持續對抗著離心力,然而若是加快速度i5 eDrive40 M Sport單馬達後驅設定就會讓車尾產生滑溜感受,但即便如此整體穩定反應仍給予駕駛滿滿信任感。

i5令人驚豔之處不只有動態項目,5,060mm×1,900mm×1,515mm的車身尺碼與2,995mm軸距都比前世代5 Series來得明顯成長,甚至都已經逼近7 Series水準,然而此尺碼設定也讓i5散發更大器豪華氣勢,但i5並沒有因尺碼而顯得臃腫,反而透過簡潔線條筆觸勾勒出穩重風範,同時BMW飾光水箱護罩、黑色剛光澤氣壩、M空力套件,讓i5在穩重大器之餘散發運動氣息。

5沒有愧對豪華房車身分,於車室大量運用皮革包覆,儀表平台更輔以淺色木紋飾板,進而營造出該級距應有的豪華氛圍。而在營造豪華之餘i5也創造科技體驗,由12.3吋數位儀錶與14.9吋中控觸控螢幕構成的曲面螢幕,搭配水晶中控套件及和7 Series相同的座艙環繞光幕,另外偕同Operating System 8.5系統、AR擴增實境、半自動駕駛、主動變換車道輔助、自動倒車輔助等多項系統帶來便利體驗。
